Hello again, to all my"SUNSHINE" friends,   I hope you all got your herb gardens going !  I am having so much fun with mine and thought I would share a few ideas that I enjoy doing.
When serving corn on the cob, I use stems of my ROSEMARY dipped in small bowls of melted butter to brush on the corn.  Really tasty !
As I prepare pork chops or a pork roast,  I always lay a few sprigs of SAGE on top and sprinkle a tiny bit of brown sugar on the meat.  Yum !
My CHIVES are doing SO well so I cut a bunch, rinse and pat dry and then chop them and spread on a cookie sheet lined with plastic wrap and put in the freezer.  When frozen, I just store them in a plastic bag or container and they are so handy for a baked potato, or to sprinkle on cooked veggies or a salad.  (GARLIC CHIVES are EXTRA good)
I always freeze a bunch of MINT leaves in ice cube trays (one per cube) and they look so pretty in a glass of lemonade.  If I want to be fancy I have even added a  cherry !  WOW
I have one big plant of CHOCOLATE MINT and ,boy, is it nice to top a piece of chocolate cake and whipped cream with a sprig of this mint.  The other night I had a wonderful dessert by layering a leftover crumbled brownie with whipped cream and fresh raspberries in a parfait glass and topping with a choc. mint leaf.  I felt like a queen   :)
The TARRAGON is perfect right now so I stuff a quart jar full and cover with cider vinegar that I heat just to warm it.  Put a lid on and let it sit in the sunny window for a week or so.  It is so good splashed on some grilled meat.  Roy liked it splashed on a salad with a little olive oil and salt and pepper.  It is also terrific in your bbq sauces.   Try it ! (After the week, strain and store in a pretty bottle)
I`m picking ARUGULA and SWISS CHARD like crazy.  Since I have Macular Degeneration I eat a lot of greens.  I love swiss chard, steamed with a little butter,s&p and a few drops of vinegar..  The other morning when I was making my breakfast drink I threw in a handful of greens and I couldn`t even taste them but I added to my diet !
Well, I was about to talk about my BASIL but that will have to wait for another day.   I`m hungry :)
I love you all and hope you are well and happy !   ......Smile Always, Bev

  1. This is awesome - I was just telling Manon I don't know how to use very many herbs and spices - thanks for helping to enlighten me!

  2. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! The rosemary with corn will be yummy and mint in the ice cubes sounds so refreshing! You always have the greatest ideas!

  3. Does eating greens help with macular degeneration? My Dad has it so I am curious. Love the mint ice cube idea. We put mint leave in an ice ring to serve lemonade once and it helped the lemonade not taste so tart after eating something sweet. Thanks for your great ideas. (Except if I hadn't heard from you that Smith's carries that yummy ice cream, my clothes might fit a little better!)
