Hey Everyone,  If you are getting ready for a BBQ tomorrow here are two quick recipes you will want to include.  They both are super with ribs, steak.chicken or pork so give them a try.

                         Bev`s fluffy cornbread
cream well ;1/3 cup crisco
                    1/2 cup sugar
Add :2 eggs and beat until light anf fluffy
stir in 1 cup milk
gently stir in : 1 1/4 cups flour
                        1/2 cup cornmeal
                         3/4 tsp. salt
                      2 3/4 tsp baking powder
Pour into a greased 8 inch square baking dish and bake at 350 for 35 min.
Serve with butter and lots of honey  :)  Yum !

                                   THE BEST BAKED BEANS
Fry until crisp : 1/2 lb. bacon
Crumble bacon and combine with : 1/2 chopped green pepper
                                                         1 chopped onion
                                                         3 T. worchestershire sauce
                                                          1/3 cup catsup (be sure and use Heinz for Mark :)
                                                            1/2 cup brown sugar
                                                         3 cans (14 oz each) pork and beans (I prefer Van Camps)
Bake at 250 for 2 hours or more.
I bake mine in my bean pot and remove the lid the last 30 min. or so but that isn`t necessary.
My granddaughter Megan  absolutely LOVES these.  They really are delicious!

I hope you are all enjoying the Rainier cherries now.  They are just coming on and if you haven`t tried them , don`t miss out.  They are so "meaty" and sweet and SO much better than the Bing cherries.   Apricots are on now also and I have a bunch ready to make some freezer jam so guess I`d better get busy.   I love you all and would like to hear from you......Smile Always, Bev
